Gilpine Scout Hall supports Western Cape scouts in their training needs by providing a facility which is available over weekends. The hall is the central training venue for scout First Aid courses as well as a variety of adult training courses. The hall is used more than half of all weekends in a year for regional scout courses while every Monday night the hall is reserved for scout meetings. The hall is also used for Liesbeek District meetings as well as other scout courses and scout meetings as arranged with the Gilpine Management Team.
In the week, the hall is available to community groups to hire or rent for community activities. Examples of users are yoga groups, martial arts, fitness classes, club meetings and other community groups who can all benefit from renting this hall in the heart of Pinelands with ample parking. The hall is not available for rent to commercial enterprises and we do not allow use of the hall over weekends. Generally the hall is not suitable for hiring for events like birthday parties and weddings, partially because it lacks the equipment and facilities and also because alcohol is not allowed to be consumed on the premises and music and high volumes of noise are not suitable for this venue. Due to small uneveness in the floor, this hall is not generally suitable for hire for ballet classes although it is generally suitable for hire for other types of dance classes.
We charge a low usage fee for use of the hall. We deilberately keep the usage fee low to support small community activities. All money goes towards the maintenance and upgrade of the hall and its facilities and of course the more that we can earn the more we are able to improve the facilities of the hall. In a sense then our support of the community is reciprocated by the community supporting us by using the hall, thereby allowing us to improve the hall and its surrounds.
