Gilpine Scout Hall supports Western Cape scouts in their training needs by providing a facility which is available over weekends, unlike many scout halls which have scout activities happening in them. The hall is the central training venue for scout First Aid courses as well as a variety of adult training courses. The hall is used more than half of all weekends in a year for regional scout courses while every Monday night the hall is reserved for scout meetings.
In the week, the hall is available to community groups to use for activities. Examples of users are yoga groups, martial arts, fitness classes, club meetings and other community groups who can all benefit from renting this hall in the heart of Pinelands with ample parking. The hall is not available for rent to commercial enterprises and weekends are generally reserved for scout use. The hall is not available for hiring for events like children birthday parties and weddings. It lacks the equipment and facilities for these activities and music and high volumes of noise are not suitable for this venue. Due to small uneveness in the floor, this hall is not generally suitable for hire for ballet classes although it is suitable for hire for other types of dance classes.
We charge a usage fee for use of the hall. We keep the usage fee reasonably low for small community activities and scout activities. All money goes towards the maintenance and upgrade of the hall and its facilities and of course the more that we can earn the more we are able to improve the facilities of the hall. Our support of the community with low rates is reciprocated by the community supporting us by using the hall, thereby enabling us to improve the hall and its surrounds.
